The VPN also sent a vessel, Frigate 011 – Dinh Tien Hoang, with 137 officers and sailors on board, to attend various activities on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), including IMDEX Asia 2017 and its related events.

The 11th edition of IMDEX Asia, held from May 16 to 18 at Singapore’s Changi Exhibition Center, is the biggest ever in the show’s industry. This year also marks another achievement as IMDEX Asia is being held in conjunction with the RSN’s 50th Anniversary (RSN50) celebrations. This includes the biggest participation by Maritime and Naval Forces with attendance by a record number of Chiefs of Navy, Deputy-Chiefs and Directors-General of Coast Guard, as well as representatives from navies and coast guard forces from over 40 countries.

Accordingly, 28 warships from 20 countries, as well as the RSN vessels will also be on full view in the highly anticipated Warships Display. Visitors will also experience the largest ever exhibition to date, featuring 230 participating companies from 29 countries, and including an increased number of both returning and new exhibitors from France, Germany, Israel and Italy among others.

The two IMDEX Asia strategic conferences, the fifth International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC 2017) and the third Asian edition of the prestigious International Naval Engineering Conference (INEC@IMDEX Asia 2017), will gather leading experts and academics from all over the world to discuss issues related to maritime security and present the latest technologies on naval platform design and development.

In addition, IMDEX Asia 2017 will also host its first Commercial Maritime Cyber Security Forum. This session will bring high-profile naval and maritime industry players to discuss the modern maritime threat landscape and the vulnerability of valued vessels to cyber-attacks.

IMDEX Asia is an Asia-Pacific flagship international maritime defense show and a must-attend event in the international naval and maritime security calendar. Established in 1997, the biennial IMDEX Asia comprises an exhibition, technical and strategic conferences and a warships display. It has gained recognition as a global platform to address pressing issues within the naval and maritime security industry, showcase the latest naval technologies and connect key players from navies, governments and industry.
